AI Assistant

The AI assistant is a financial planning chatbot that understands your portfolio context. It can answer questions, explain your numbers, suggest actions, and help you think through financial decisions.

What makes it different from general AI

It knows your data. Before answering, the AI receives a structured context object containing your current corpus, asset allocation, FIRE stage, age, goals, and income/expenses. You don't have to explain your situation from scratch.

It cannot lie about your numbers. All financial projections, scores, and calculations are computed in TypeScript before being sent to the AI. The AI reads these pre-computed results and explains them. It cannot hallucinate your portfolio value or invent a return estimate.

It has financial guardrails. ~80 safety rules are always injected into the system prompt. These rules prevent the AI from recommending leveraged products, market timing, high-concentration single stocks, or premature retirement fund withdrawals — regardless of how you frame the question.

Good questions to ask

  • "Why did my Freedom Score drop this month?"
  • "Should I prepay my home loan or invest ₹50,000?"
  • "I want to retire at 50. What do I need to change?"
  • "How does my portfolio compare to someone my age?"
  • "Explain my Compounding Quality score"
  • "What's the tax impact if I redeem ₹5L of equity mutual funds this year?"

Modes

Chat mode (sidebar): Quick questions while using the platform. 1 credit per message.

Full-screen chat: For longer planning conversations. Same cost.

BYOK mode: Bring your own Gemini or Groq API key. Your key, your cost, no credit deduction.

What the AI cannot do

  • Execute transactions (it's read-only, like the rest of the platform)
  • Recommend specific mutual fund schemes by name (it avoids scheme-level advice per SEBI guidelines)
  • Provide legal or tax filing advice
  • Replace a qualified financial planner for complex situations (business income, estate planning, NRI taxation)

Conversation memory

The AI remembers facts from your conversations. Key preferences and stated goals are extracted automatically and stored in your AI Brain (ai_brainuser_memories). This means subsequent conversations benefit from prior context, and the AI doesn't ask you for the same information repeatedly.
