SFS vs AFS

Every Freedom Score is one of two kinds: SFS (Self-reported) or AFS (Audited).

Self-reported Freedom Score (SFS)

Default for all users. The score is computed from the data you enter. No external verification. The platform trusts what you input.

This is the right score for:

  • Personal planning (you know your own data)
  • Tracking your own progress over time
  • Using the AI advisory features

The SFS badge on the public leaderboard shows a single border.

Audited Freedom Score (AFS)

Advisor-mediated attestation. Your financial advisor reviews your portfolio data via the Freedomwise advisor dashboard, verifies it against uploaded documents (statements, salary slips, passbook), and submits an attestation. This flips your score_kind from sfsafs.

The attestation record includes:

  • Advisor's name and SEBI registration number
  • Date of attestation
  • A click-through to the advisor's Freedomwise profile

The AFS badge shows a double border and the attestation metadata. It signals to the community that the score is not just self-reported.

Why attestation matters

On the public leaderboard and badge system, AFS scores signal a higher level of trust. For advisors, it's a way to demonstrate client outcomes publicly (with client consent). For users, it's a form of accountability.

Important: The computation is identical for SFS and AFS. There is no separate formula. The only difference is who has verified the underlying data.

How to get your score audited

  1. Your advisor must be on the Freedomwise platform (they can apply here)
  2. Your advisor invites you as a client from their dashboard
  3. You accept the invite and consent to advisor data access
  4. Your advisor reviews your data and submits the attestation
  5. Your score_kind updates to afs immediately

If you don't have an advisor, your SFS score is fully valid for all planning purposes. Attestation is optional.
