How the Calculators Work
Freedomwise offers 35 public calculators across 9 asset categories. All calculators run entirely in your browser — no data is sent to any server, no login required.
The math
Each calculator uses the same deterministic math engine that powers the full platform. The public calculator is a simplified version: it exposes the core formula with sliders, without the full user-data context.
Key difference from the app: The app uses your actual portfolio data — your real EPF corpus, your actual SIP amounts, your real expected returns per asset. The public calculator uses whatever inputs you provide via sliders.
Accuracy
For planning purposes, these calculators are accurate to within the limits of their assumptions:
- Compounding frequency: Equity/MF calculations use monthly compounding. FDs use quarterly (industry standard). PPF uses annual.
- Returns: You control the return assumption. The sliders default to reasonable midpoints, not optimistic ones.
- Taxes: Post-tax calculators use the simplified slab rate you enter. They don't model TDS timing or indexation.
- Inflation: Not applied by default in most calculators. Use the "Real Return" calculator to adjust for inflation.

Going beyond the calculator
The public calculators give you directional clarity. For decisions that involve your actual portfolio — "should I prepay my loan or invest?" "am I on track for retirement?" — the platform uses all your data together and can run stress tests, Monte Carlo simulations, and AI-narrated recommendations.
